The family farm is situated on the outskirts of Shrewsbury, farming mainly cereals & fodder beet, alongside their flock of Pedigree Texel’s and Free-Range Laying Hens. With 4th generation farmer Henry wanting to return to the family business after studying agriculture and experiencing how different farming is in other parts of the world. Pursuing his lifelong passion for free range chickens he diversified part of the farm into Free range eggs receiving his first flock in 2020.
The modern state of the art laying unit consists of nest boxes, drinkers and feeders at three different levels, with multiple perch bars allowing the birds to roost as high as they desire, leaving it as one of the highest welfare systems in the world. Following on to the Packing station, with modern egg handling technology along with the assistance of a robotic palletiser to finish the process, providing yourselves with the highest quality product.
Additional to this Henry has a big passion for going green and supporting the environment.
- Approximately 60% of the electricity used is produced from the 50Kw array solar system.
- Over 650 native trees planted consisting of Oak, Silver Birch, Hombeam, Aulder & Rowen
- All manure is used on the arable side of the farm, resulting in no purchasing of muck and minimal imports of fertilisers.
Henry Strongly believes this is the way forward for modern agriculture becoming more self sufficient and reducing food miles dramatically. Supporting local is essential and really does have a huge impact on the local community.
